Hybrid Chaotic Salp Swarm with Crossover Algorithm for Underground Wireless Sensor Networks

Resource management in Underground Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) is one of the pillars to extend network lifetime. An intriguing design goal for such networks achieve balanced energy and spectral resource utilization. This paper focuses on optimizing efficiency UWSNs where underground relay nodes amplify forward sensed data, received from buried source through a lossy soil medium, aboveground base station. A new algorithm called Hybrid Chaotic Salp Swarm Crossover (HCSSC) proposed obtain optimal transmission powers maximize efficiency. The improves standard Algorithm (SSA) by considering chaotic map initialize population along with performing crossover technique position updates salps. Through experimental results, HCSSC proves its outstanding superiority SSA optimization. Hence, network's lifetime prolonged. Indeed, achieves an improvement performance 23.6% 20.4% average remaining battery per transmission, respectively. Furthermore, simulation results demonstrate that efficacy case both equal different node capacities.
